Blogworld

I feel as if I've been absent from the blog world for a few weeks. I've been on the Internet but I just haven't posted on our blog. What is everyone doing this week? Are you traveling for Christmas? Oh, I don't know if you have seen the website before but there's a great place where you can paste a picture of yourself on the body of an elf and then they dance around to music. Okay I probably didn't make any sense at all. There is a website where you upload a picture of yourself and it puts the head of the picture on the body of a little elf. Then you select a dance you like (I personally think the disco very funny) and the elf dances to the music. Its hilarious! The address is www.elfyourself.com . Hope you enjoy!

Decided to update~

Hello Everyone-
Sorry we have not posted lately. We have been kind of busy...... schoolwork, cooking/baking , outings. You know! But yesterday we did a Christmas tradition! Gingerbread men : ) Well that went over OK...... all walker did was put more flour, and more flour in his dough (which we really needed) because it was REALLY sticky! It was quit a cleanup. But it was fun, and yummy and that's what counts! We should have some pictures of that and the Christmas tree decorating up here , soon! Today I am going Christmas shopping with my mom! I love to shop~ Especially a Christmas time, and when all the decorations are out!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good morning! (i know its supposed to be "goodnight", but its morning)

"Mere Christianity"

What Bible Study you use? What book of the Bible is your favorite? What are you reading now? Do use a Bible Study book?

I'm reading "Mere Christianity" for my Bible study book. It's by C. S. Lewis and it is very good and informative. He teaches the base of theology and the basis of Christianity. He talks about things that you never hear anywhere else. He was once a atheist but turned to the Lord and went on to write many books about Christianity. He is a deep thinker and discusses things that you don't hear anywhere else. In the book he covers Christian Marriage, Forgiveness, The Great Sin (pride) which I thought was a great chapter, Charity, Hope, Faith, Tithing and many other topics as well. Some people don't like his book "The Chronicles of Narnia" because of his using a Witch as a symbol of evil. And because of that one disagreement they decide that they do not support the man at all. Every one can have an opinion but I must say I do not agree with them. After reading "Mere Christianity" I see what an intelligent Christian man C. S. Lewis was. He has many wonderful insights and pieces of wisdom in this book. I highly recommend it.

Good Books...

I love Jane Austin and all her books. My favorite is Pride and Prejudice but I also love Sense and Sensibility with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet and loved it too. Off subject but did you know how long it took them to style Kate Winslet's hair? Two hours. Anyway I think that I've seen all the versions of Pride and Prejudice that they've made. Greer Garson, Jennifer Ehle, Elizabeth Garvie, and Keira Knightly. My favorite is the Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth one. I think that costumes are beautiful in that version. I thought that they left out to much in the one made in 2005. Although I thought that Rosamond Parks and Keira Knightly made a very good Jane and Lizzy.
Caroline received this version made in the 80's. It was made for television so it has the look of a soap opera. The costumes and sets are good in this version though.
Lizzy and Darcy with a larger picture of Lizzy and Jane. I love the bonnets!:)

I Love Lucy

I Love Lucy Starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez is America's best loved comedy. Madcap, red-headed Lucy Ricardo lives with her band leading husband Ricky in a New York apartment own by their best friends Fred and Ethel Mertz. Lucy is continually getting into trouble. She gets stuck in freezers, glues beards on her face that won't come off, gets stuck babysitting for two impossible twins, gets handcuffed to Ricky, steals John Wayne's footprints, and ends up doing a comedy act in the middle of a Ballet. Lucy going through Ricky procedures to help his hair grow back when he thinks he's getting bald.
Lucy in her most famous role selling Vitametavegimin.

I Love Lucy!

Merry Christmas!

One of the biggest things about the Christmas season for me is planning cousin productions plays. Its something small that I can do with my spare time that I really enjoy. I think about it all year round. You should see me, a week after the play I send McKenzie an e-mail entitled "Next Play". I just really love doing them. I love to plan! I think about script, costumes, music, and progrmas from January till the next December comes around. It might seem a little strange but its something that I personally love to do. Here's a few pictures of all my cousins that partake in each Christmas play. I just realized that this does not include the two little cousins! Oh well:) This is a picture from last year so we're a year younger there!
McKenzie (15), Me (14), Matthew (13), Caroline (11), Madeline (9), Faith (9), Baldwin (8), Mariah (6), James (5), Hudson (5), not pictured Malachi (2), Walker (2).
If your wondering why the boys look so peculiar its because the have "war paint" on (washable markers) on the faces. They love cowboys, indians, Davy Crocket, and Daniel Boone so they dress up like indians any chance they get! Its so cute to see them have such a good time together!:)

I hope you enjoyed the pictures! I'll steal some off McKenzie's blog so I'll have some resent pictures of them!:)

Cancer Free!

I know Caroline already posted about my Grandma but I had to do it as well!:) She is cancer free!!! The doctors were amazed when the scan showed that the spot that was fairly large was smaller. They said it only happens twice every year. She has had so many people praying for her. Thank-you so much! Our prayers have been answered! What a wonderful Christmas Present! Thank-you Lord!

~Our Christmas Miracle~

We have been posting about our grandmother and the spot on her lung, she also had a spot in her back and under her breastbone. She found out a few days ago that the spot on her back is gout and the spot under her breastbone was from her lung spot. The docter had said if the spot on her lung had gotten smaller it wasn't really anything. Today she had her scan and it is smaller! We have received our Christmas miracle!!!

PRAISE THE LORD! Thank you all for your prayers, they have been heard!

We love you Grandma!!!!

Our Thanksgiving...

For Thanksgiving this year we went to visit my cousins. Travelling with seven people, and especially three little boys, can take a while. Packing and loading the car with seven peoples things is not the most enjoyable task either. But on Thursday morning before we headed down to my cousins we loaded the car with all the bags, suitcases, and food. We took Broccoli and Rice Casserole, Sweet Potato Casserole, and Cranberry Nut Bread which thankfully did not get smashed!:) When we ended the two and a half hour drive which really is not that much we were very glad. Two and a half hours is not that long but gets old sitting next to a active five-year-old who every five minutes asks "Are We There Yet?!" or "Are we almost there?". It can get old.

We had our Thanksgiving dinner outside in our cousins yard which is so gorgeous with all its pecan trees and big fields across the street. After we ate my cousins McKenzie (15), Madeline (9), Caroline, and I went on a walk through the woods and fields and took lots of pictures and videos for our Pride and Prejudice "trailer". :) We headed back and road my cousins horses as it was getting dark. She has three horses, Abasha, Candy, and Mr. Darcy but we only rode Candy. I like to ride her because she's very comfortable!:)

We then changed into our Pajamas and had dessert. Then went to their room and watched "Sense and Sensibility" and had tea sitting around Caroline's suitcase which had been turned into a small "table" with a blanket draped over for sitting around and sipping our tea and watching Elinor and Marianne.

We had a really good Thanksgiving and I hope that all of you had one as well!

Praise the Lord!

Five minutes ago I posted about my Grandma and how they had found a spot on her back that they thought might be cancer. She just called and said that the doctor had called her and told her that it was not cancer! Praise the Lord!

Prayer Request...

I wrote about my Grandma the other day and how the doctor had seen a spot on her lungs that they wanted to look at further. She has had many tests and x-rays and they still do not really know what it is. But they found two more spots, one on her spine, and another under her breast bone. They also did a x-ray on my Grandpa and the results from yesterday say that there is a spot on his lung too. They don't know what it is yet but please pray that it is nothing serious at all. Please lift up both of my grandparents, my aunts, and my mom who are all concerned. Thank-you so much!

The Witch of Blackbird Pond

Despite its title this book is not about a witch. It's about a young lady named Kathrine Tyler, who, after her grandfather dies, moves to America to live with her mother's sister's family. The new Puritan society is very hard for Kit and even though her cousin Mercy is very kind and rebellious Judith tries to be friendly she has a hard time settling into her new primitive home. One day after being dismissed from her postions teaching the young children in the dame school with Mercy she runs to the meadow near her Uncle Matthew's house. There she meets Hannah an old lonely Quaker women who was driven from her home to the little shack and who is known to everyone as the Witch of Blackbird Pond. I really like this book. It's got a very good story and is written in a very engaging way. I'm reading it for the second time through and am really enjoying it. I highly recommend it!

Christmas Ballet Dances...

Since Christmas is just one month away I have begun to plan for this years Christmas dance. At our play Faith, Caroline, and I are going to do a dance to a Christmas song. Last year we did "Mary Did You Know?" and this year we are doing, well I haven't really decided. But we are going to be dancing to Steven Curtis Chapman's "Cinderella". I really like that song and Faith wants to do that one. But I also want to do a Christmas dance. What song do you think I should do it to?
Here are My Ideas So Far:
"I Believe"
"Joy"
"O Holy Night"
"Amazing Grace"
"The Sugar Plum Fairy"
Another beautiful song that I can't think of right now!:)

Here are some pictures of my pointe shoes that I took a few months ago. I hadn't danced in them very much and they looked really clean and pretty!:) I remember the first time I put them on. I stood up and I felt just like a penguin! There really stiff and hard when you first get them. I read about the very first pointe shoes in a book I highly recommend "The Pointe Book: Shoes, training, and technique. How the very first pointe shoes were actually pointed! It sounds very hard to balance on!

Pointe Shoes

Today is Saturday! Its rather dreary and overcast. Caroline is going for her Pointe Shoes fitting with her ballet class today! I can't wait to see what brand she gets. There are so many different styles and brands. And they do differ in color. Some are really pink, while others have a hint of peach in them, and some are more creamy colored. I wear Bloch Suprima I really like the color of them. I wear a 91/2 but my foots very narrow. My moms going to buy some Jelly Toes for me while she's at the store. There these little gel things that you pull over your big toe to help it not hurt so much. It seems that my pointe shoes hurt me more this year than they did last year. Although my classes are on Mondays and Tuesdays instead of Mondays and Thursdays like they were last year. Anyway, the jelly toes give your big toe extra cushioning. Which I really need since my right toe nail is black from the bruises! My pointe work this year has been really fun. We've learned several variations which are particular dances from ballets. We did the same thing last year too. We learned the Lilac Fairy from "Sleeping Beauty", Swanilda from "Coppelia" (which was my favorite!), and another fairy from "Sleeping Beauty". This year we've learned Winter from "Cinderella", Dawn from "Coppelia", and now we're learning The Sugar Plum Fairy from "The Nutcracker". The Sugar Plum Fairy is defiantly the hardest for me to learn!
My favorite this year is probably Dawn. It has some parts that I really like! Caroline will probably do a post about her pointe shoes soon!

“The Lord is my Light and My salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the Strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me to eat at my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me my heart shall not fear. Though war may rise against me in this I will be confidant. One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek, that I may see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord, be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart. Wait I say on the Lord.”

Psalms 27

“God is my refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear even thought the earth be removed and thought the mountains be carried into the sea. Though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling.

There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her she shall not be moved. God shall help her just at the break of dawn. The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The Lord of Hosts is with us the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Come behold the works of the Lord who has made desolations in the earth, he makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and cuts the strings in two; he burns the chariot in the fire. BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD. I will the exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth. The lord of hosts is with us the God of Jacob is our refuge.”
Psalms 46
I would really like all of you who read my blog to pray for grandma right now. The doctors have seen something on her lungs and they don't know what it is. She has gone to see a specialist today but I don't know what they saw yet. Please, please lift up my Grandma up in prayer. Thank-you so much.

Since I'm Costume Mistress...

I'm in charge of making, finding, and designating costumes for all of us cousins. Soooo I started on a costume for myself about a month ago and finished it (Its cream and burgundy velvet) and started on one for Caroline but put it away when the skirt looked like a sack of potatoes!:) So I started on bonnets for all the girls. Now I know that these are not really period based (they are more for the 1700's) but I really don't have enough cardboard to make each girl one! So these will have to do!:) They are so fun to make and super easy! I didn't buy a cent's worth of material or fabric or lace or anything because I just used things that I already had. So I have a lot of pictures because it was a little hard to get it at all angles! Here They are!

Here's the First on and its for the character Lydia, who is quite bubbly, talkative, and as Elizabeth puts it 'absolutely uncontrolled'! This was one of the funnest to make because I got to put a lot of lace and ruffles on it!

The second is Kitty's (Madeline's) and is Pink and cream colored. Kitty is a lot like Lydia too but not quite as wild!:)

Here is Mary's (Faith's) who is a book worm and loves music. I think that we need to make her a little less book wormish and a little more musical for Faith's sake!

This is by far my favorite because I love the colors and the pleats!

~I really like the bow!~

I got the pictures out of order! But this is another picture of Kitty's.

I like the colors together

This is my favorite picture of this bonnet

So, I'm not definitely sure that all these bonnets are going to be worn by these girls but I think they really suit each character well. What do you think?

As you can see the mountains were beautiful last weekend. I went up there with my aunt and uncle and two cousins and we had a wonderful time! It was cool but by no means cold! We had a great time and I got some really beautiful pictures of these waterfalls. The camera just didn't do justice to how beautiful and magnificent is was. I tried but I couldn't. The Lord has made creation incredible! It can't be described with words. It reminds me of the verse in Psalms "God reigns in the heavens God sits on his holy throne princes of the people have gathered together, the peoples of the God of Israel. For the shields of the earth belong to God he is greatly exalted!"
Psalms 65:9-10 "You visit the earth and water it, You greatly enrich it; The river of God is full of water; You provide their grain, For so You have prepared it. You water its ridges abundantly, You settle its furrows; You make it soft with showers, You bless its growth."

Hip, Hip, Hooooooooooooorah!

Yes as you can see and hear I have music! How wonderful! How Fantastic! How exceptional! Can you tell I'm excited? I'm going to add some more right now! I hope you enjoy! I you can see I like a mixture of songs. Old Show theme songs (I really like that Brady Bunch Theme song!), hymns, praise songs, and musicals. I am REALLY excited.

Obama Wins Presidency

Barrack Obama Wins Presidency. This is not good. He's not the leader that America needs. We need to seriously pray for this country. God says that he will not forsake his children. One of the most comforting verses in the Bible for me is Psalms 46. Here are some more.

Psalms 47
Psalms 27
Psalms 54
Psalms 91

Two Great Articles on the Family

ARTICLE ONE~
ARTICLE TWO~

We found these articles on one of our favorite blogs, www.resolved2worship/xanga.com they speak on the family and I think that they are very well put. Sometimes certain teachings and methods of raising children get in the way of us seeing the Lord's way. We get side tracked into believing that you have to live by certain rules and regulations. Jesus has wonderful and amazing plans for His children and He doesn't want us to fear man and what they may think of us but to fear Him.

~For everyone who looks at this blog

Hey Everyone-
I am so sorry we have not been doing a very good job at updating! I really need to get some pictures up here, but the only problem is, is that I don't know how to get them downloaded! That's Layne's job : ) Layne went to the mountains with our grandparents and my Aunt and Uncle ( she will probably do a post on that soon!) Then on Saturday when she came back our grandparents came here on their way back to their house. Sunday Baldwin got baptized and lots of family was there. (pictures coming soon!) No new pictures on here now, maybe there will be some next time!

~Rainy days and Picture Taking~

Rainy days:
Today it has been really rainy, its is needed rain, but rain also means cooped up indoors! And with three boys that's not always pleasant! But they have been playing in the garage some, so it wasn't bad! I have been reading non-stop today, its perfect weather, and so cozy!

Picture taking: Wednesday night Mamma, Hudson, Walker, and I went to the park to take the two little boys birthday pictures. They both looked so cute in their outfits, but it didn't go very well! Hudson was climbing everywhere, getting sticks, and doing this and that. Walker was running everywhere and every time you put him somewhere he would trot off to another place! It was not a very good experience! It started to get dark and we couldn't get any good lighting so we headed home! We only got about two fuzzy pictures of Walker! We learned our lesson not to take two little boys a one time!!!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

I can't wait to be together again, Louise, its so lonesome without you!!!

Cousin Productions Presents...

Jane Austin's

"Pride and Prejudice"

Every year my cousins and I perform a play for our family and some of our grandparents' friends. We have done it since we were all very small and it is now a very big family tradition. Our first play was the story of the birth of Jesus and I played an angel and was supposed to proclaim from the top of my grandmother's cedar chest, "Do not be afraid for I bring you good tidings of great joy that shall be to all people for unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior who is Christ the Lord!" But I forgot my lines and had to lean down and ask my older cousin Mckenzie what to say. That was very fun to do and since then we have done it every year.
For several years in a row we did the birth of Jesus with Caroline playing Mary and our cousin Matthew as Joseph. One year Caroline sang "Away in the Manger" which was very sweet! And we would sing "Jingle Bells" and "Go Tell is on the Mountain".
But in 2005 we did our first play based on a book and was entitled, "Felicity, the Life of a Colonial Girl". It was based on the American Girl character Felicity. Mckenzie (who is a year older than me) played Felicity, Caroline played Elizabeth, I played Annabelle and Mrs. Merriman, Madeline played Nan, Aunt Monica played Miss Manderly, and Faith played Nan's friend and a serving maid at Miss Manderly's. That was very enjoyable and was quite funny!:)
Our next play was "Elsie's Troubled Times" based on Martha Finley's Elsie Dinsmore. I wrote the play which turned out a lot shorter than I had imagined!:) Faith played sweet little Elsie Dinsmore, ringlets and all! Caroline had a double role as Lora Dinsmore and Miss Rose Allison, I played the mean and cruel Miss Day the governess, McKenzie played Adelaide Dinsmore, Madeline played the snotty Enna, James played Walter, and Mariah had her first role as Louise Dinsmore. Our Aunt Monica very sweetly played Aunt Chloe and Mrs. Dinsmore which was very fun!
Last year we did Lucy Maud Montgomery's "Anne of Green Gables". This was our best one so far with Caroline Starring as Anne Shirley with her brown hair colored red which we did with orange hair spary that will wash right out. Aunt Monica played Marilla Cuthbert, I played Diana Barry, Mckenzie played Rachel Lynde, Carrignton was Minnie May Barry, Madeline was Mary Jo Barry, Matthew was Gilbert Blythe, and Baldwin, Mariah, and James Played school children. I really like this play even though we weren't very prepared!

And this year we are presenting...........drum roll PLEASE!.....................................

Jane Austin's
"Pride and Prejudice"

Starring

Mckenzie ~ Elizabeth Bennett
Layne ~ Jane Bennett
Faith ~ Mary Bennett
Madeline ~ Kitty Bennett
Caroline ~ Lydia Bennett
Grandma ~ Mrs. Bennett
Grandpa ~ Mr. Bennett
Grandma ~ Lady Cathrine de Bourgh*
Baldwin ~ Mr. Bingly
Mariah ~ Rosie a maid
Mr. Darcy ~ ????????
Miss Caroline Bingly ~ ???????
Mrs. Louisa Hurst ~ ???????
Mr. Collins ~ ???????
Charlotte Lucas ~ ???????

So.....the question marks mean we haven't assigned cousin to this part yet. This means that this part might be cancelled or someone will have to have a double role. Since some of these part cannot possibly be cut out like Mr. Darcy, Mr. Collins and Charlotte Lucas we might have to make alterations. This is not the final cast list and will probably undergo so changes. *My Grandma will probably not want to play two characters so we might have to change some things. But I hope she does!

FYI this is the longest post I've ever written. Haha!

Sunday, October 5, 2008

Okay my cousin Mckenzie put a list of random things about herself on her blog and tagged me as one of the people to do so on mine. And then I have to tag some other people to do so on their's as well. I don't have very many people who have blogs or haven't already done this. So I don't have six other people to send it to like I'm supposed to. Oh well I hope find my list interesting! I tag Eliza and Laura!

So here is goes!

1. My favorite day of the week is Friday
2. My favorite step in ballet is a Balance (I don't think I spelled that right! It's pronounced Balensae.)
3. My favorite food is Eggplant Parmesan and Chocolate
4. My favorite Shakespeare play is "The Taming of the Shrew"
5. My favorite actresses are Julie Andrews, Vivien Leigh, and Lucille Ball. My favorite actor is Don Knotts.
6. I always rub my feet together when I go to sleep!

I think that this movie looks really good! Ballet Shoes is one of my all time favorite books! Oh, it's so wonderful! I really recommend this book! It looks very good but I haven't seen it and don't know if it has any language or inapproprate things in it. I watched the trailer and it looks like they changed a few things (why do they always have to do that?) like the age of the Fossils children, but I love the 1940's time period and the English accents! Noel Streatfield wrote many books but one of her most famous was the "Shoe Series" it included "Ballet Shoes", "Theater Shoes", and "Dancing Shoes". They are all so wonderful!

We are all chocolate lovers so Caroline had a homemade chocolate cake with chocolate cream-cheese frosting. In this picture the candles were just about melted wax so we had to hurry! She had her favorite ice cream too! Rocky Road and Butter Pecan.
For her birthday Caroline recieved a new Webkinz cat from one of her dear friends which she really loved! She also got some beautiful stationary, a little antique thimble that was so pretty, and she also got some wonderful other presents from her dear grandparents and family like some fun spending money and a gift card, and a new CD, a purse, a necklace, some new clothes, and a DVD that has "A Little Princess" and "The Secret Garden" on it. She had a wonderful birthday!
