Cousin Productions Presents...

Jane Austin's

"Pride and Prejudice"

Every year my cousins and I perform a play for our family and some of our grandparents' friends. We have done it since we were all very small and it is now a very big family tradition. Our first play was the story of the birth of Jesus and I played an angel and was supposed to proclaim from the top of my grandmother's cedar chest, "Do not be afraid for I bring you good tidings of great joy that shall be to all people for unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior who is Christ the Lord!" But I forgot my lines and had to lean down and ask my older cousin Mckenzie what to say. That was very fun to do and since then we have done it every year.
For several years in a row we did the birth of Jesus with Caroline playing Mary and our cousin Matthew as Joseph. One year Caroline sang "Away in the Manger" which was very sweet! And we would sing "Jingle Bells" and "Go Tell is on the Mountain".
But in 2005 we did our first play based on a book and was entitled, "Felicity, the Life of a Colonial Girl". It was based on the American Girl character Felicity. Mckenzie (who is a year older than me) played Felicity, Caroline played Elizabeth, I played Annabelle and Mrs. Merriman, Madeline played Nan, Aunt Monica played Miss Manderly, and Faith played Nan's friend and a serving maid at Miss Manderly's. That was very enjoyable and was quite funny!:)
Our next play was "Elsie's Troubled Times" based on Martha Finley's Elsie Dinsmore. I wrote the play which turned out a lot shorter than I had imagined!:) Faith played sweet little Elsie Dinsmore, ringlets and all! Caroline had a double role as Lora Dinsmore and Miss Rose Allison, I played the mean and cruel Miss Day the governess, McKenzie played Adelaide Dinsmore, Madeline played the snotty Enna, James played Walter, and Mariah had her first role as Louise Dinsmore. Our Aunt Monica very sweetly played Aunt Chloe and Mrs. Dinsmore which was very fun!
Last year we did Lucy Maud Montgomery's "Anne of Green Gables". This was our best one so far with Caroline Starring as Anne Shirley with her brown hair colored red which we did with orange hair spary that will wash right out. Aunt Monica played Marilla Cuthbert, I played Diana Barry, Mckenzie played Rachel Lynde, Carrignton was Minnie May Barry, Madeline was Mary Jo Barry, Matthew was Gilbert Blythe, and Baldwin, Mariah, and James Played school children. I really like this play even though we weren't very prepared!

And this year we are presenting...........drum roll PLEASE!.....................................

Jane Austin's
"Pride and Prejudice"

Starring

Mckenzie ~ Elizabeth Bennett
Layne ~ Jane Bennett
Faith ~ Mary Bennett
Madeline ~ Kitty Bennett
Caroline ~ Lydia Bennett
Grandma ~ Mrs. Bennett
Grandpa ~ Mr. Bennett
Grandma ~ Lady Cathrine de Bourgh*
Baldwin ~ Mr. Bingly
Mariah ~ Rosie a maid
Mr. Darcy ~ ????????
Miss Caroline Bingly ~ ???????
Mrs. Louisa Hurst ~ ???????
Mr. Collins ~ ???????
Charlotte Lucas ~ ???????

So.....the question marks mean we haven't assigned cousin to this part yet. This means that this part might be cancelled or someone will have to have a double role. Since some of these part cannot possibly be cut out like Mr. Darcy, Mr. Collins and Charlotte Lucas we might have to make alterations. This is not the final cast list and will probably undergo so changes. *My Grandma will probably not want to play two characters so we might have to change some things. But I hope she does!

FYI this is the longest post I've ever written. Haha!

Two parts? I don't think so. Does Grandpa know he is in the play. I don't think so. You guys are nuts. This is suppose to be a cousins play. I think Aunt Monica needs to be Mrs. Bennett. I don't have a costume and she does. (purple dress) Love you!!!

Hi Layne!
It looks like alot of fun! Do you think that maybe you could video the actual performance, ( or at least part of it) and post it? That would be really cool!
I don't think I have ever wrote that long of a post either!
Caroline, thank you for the comment, and I am glad you like my blog!
And, Layne, I know you tagged me to write a few random things about me, and I never did, but I will soon. I am so sorry I have waited so long! I will pass it on and tag someone else too!
Talk to you later.
